If your children want to make crafts but you can’t be bothered driving to the craft store, look around you. Nature can be used in so many ways.
This time I’m showing you how we made nature finger puppets.
Crafting with nature has brought so much joy to my family and I. Even I had no idea nature was such a versatile crafting product until I started this blog. Best of all, it’s free and it biodegrades once you’ve finished with it!
My eldest planned what the finger puppets were going to look like and then it was up to us to create it. It was lots of fun.
What you need:
- Sticky tape
- Flowers
- Sticks
- Leaves
- Non-toxic fine tip pen
- Pen and paper for planning (optional)
How to make nature finger puppets
- Take your children outside and explore the natural world around you and collect some nature. Collect flowers, leaves and even sticks. This is usually my favourite part of the crafting process.
- Drawing a plan of our finger puppets on paper was helpful. I could see what the girls wanted on their fingers and it helped me to visualize what natural products I should use and how I could create them.
- We cut the nature out first and then stuck it onto their finger using sticky tape.
- We used the non-toxic fine tip pen to add some features to our nature finger puppets.
- As you can see, there are plenty of opportunities to make anything your child may be interested in. We made a bat, ballerina and a tree!
It so fun seeing what children are interested in creating with nature. Kids don’t seem to worry how hard it will be, they just do it. I love that they don’t second guess their abilities and overcome obstacles so quickly.
Give these nature finger puppets a try and see what you and your children can create. The creations are literally endless.
